Up To Know Good on Thursday
June 08, 2006
My first year out of college I taught music in a small rural school district. It was my first experience of living in a town with less than a thousand people, and I felt isolated and lonely. Halfway through the school year, I got mononucleosis and was told by my doctor to stay home and rest for a month. I wondered how I was going to survive that long in my small apartment alone! To my surprise, my mom took a special trip to be with me for a few days, and several co-workers also stopped by to visit.
Do Good - Is there someone in your neighborhood, church or workplace that seems lonely? Give them some companionship through a note, a meal, or a phone call today.
Another visitor I had that month was a woman from my church. Eleven years later I still have the Get Well book Vi gave me. I didnt know her well, but that small gesture was a huge gift of love to a sick, lonely school teacher!
"I was sick and you stopped to visit," Matthew 25:36b. Click here to read what Jesus said.
Jesus, thank You for the abundance of love You provide for us to give to others.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
