Arguing with God
Up To Know Good on Tuesday

Calendar & Notebook

Sitting in church one Sunday I had an idea for an Up To Know Good message. As soon as the thought came into my mind, I said, “I don’t want to write about that.” “But you will,” I heard God’s Spirit answer back. I internally shook my head, “No, I really don’t want to. It’s sort of controversial, and I’m not interested.” Right away I heard again, “But you will.”

When I hear the Spirit of God say something more than once, and it doesn’t appeal to my ego, I know I need to listen! I pulled out my notebook and jotted down the idea. The next day when I was back at my computer, I wrote about it.

Do Good - Has the Spirit of God been prompting you to do something a little uncomfortable? Make at least a note today and a promise that you will listen. Also, decide when you will do it.

As I sat down to write, I found that God gave me a fresh way to look at the controversial topic. Rather than taking a side, I just needed to present an unbiased observation. What a relief! I was also free to enjoy the rest of my day because I had done what God requested.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22. Read James 1:19-25.

God, sorry that I’ve resisted what You’ve been asking me to do. Thank You for the peace that comes when I listen and do what You propose.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
