Cello

In sixth grade I started playing the cello. At the end of the year, my teacher told me about Crystal Strings - an audition only ensemble at the school I would attend in the fall. I remember telling her, “That sounds fun. I’m going to be in that group.” She cautioned me, “Usually only older kids get in. It’s very competitive.” “I’ll get in, too,” I replied with na=EFve, twelve-year old confidence.

Do Good - Have you shied away from trying something because you were told only other people do that? What would it take for you to try it now?

The next fall, I tried out for Crystal Strings and made it! I was in the chamber orchestra for three years. I would have missed out on a lot of fun experiences had I let my teacher’s warning stop me from auditioning - or more importantly - believing I could do it.

God, I’m so thankful that sometimes na=EFve confidence and faith are enough to qualify me. Despite what others may say, give me courage to move forward today.
