Just Ask
Up To Know Good on Monday
July 03, 2006

On the last day of an intense five-day Christian writers workshop, I found an empty spot in the cafeteria for lunch. As I sat down feeling satisfied from a great week, I smiled across the table at Heather, an author that I deeply respected. Earlier in the week I had the opportunity to talk with her about the painful but rewarding process of writing about her life experiences, and I almost felt as though I had found a new friend. As we ate lunch, I decided to ask if she and I could stay in touch.
Do Good - Do you have a mentor? Whose wisdom and experiences would benefit you? Make a phone call and invite that person to lunch or coffee. Whether you meet with them once or on a regular basis, take time to ask and learn.
I tried not to show my nervousness when I asked if I could contact her from time to time when I had questions about writing. Without hesitation she said yes, and we exchanged email addresses. I knew her offer to listen and help was sincere, and I was so glad I had the courage to ask!
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. Read James 1:5- 8.
God, give me the courage to ask You and others for help and wisdom today.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
Blessings,
Sara
