Up To Know Good on Monday
July 17, 2006
My grandma smiled as she told me about her life at the nursing home. She said that many people she had met were sad, so she tried to cheer them up. Being naturally very funny, she often joked around with other residents. She also told them that when they were distressed, they should pray. Prayer, she promised, would help more than anything else.
Do Good - Are the people around you sad? Lighten things up with a smile or joke. Then encourage them to pray with the promise that it will help more than anything else.
I was amazed at the motivation my grandmother felt. Elderly and quite ill, she had every reason to be sad and hopeless. Instead, she continued to see and meet the needs of others, and by doing so she continued to have a fulfilling life of purpose.
An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. Proverbs 12:25. Read more.
Jesus, forgive me for so often looking at myself and what I lack. Help me daily give away the priceless gifts of a sense of humor and a prayer.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
