Get Up
Up To Know Good on Wednesday
July 26, 2006

At mile fifteen of the marathon, I stopped running and sat down on the edge of the road to stretch. Pain was shooting from my lower back through my right leg. As I tried to loosen my hamstring, someone stopped and said hello. I looked up and saw Christine, another runner I had met a few miles back. How are you? she asked. How do I look? I said pathetically, trying to evoke her sympathy. You must be okay; youre still smiling! she told me. I started to laugh in spite of myself. I was okay! Then, Christine reached out her hand and helped me get up.
Do Good - Take time to notice people sitting on the edges of life. Ask them how theyre doing. If theyre ready, offer them a helping hand.
At the very end of the marathon Christine found me and we took a photo together. We didnt stay in touch, but I will always appreciate her encouragement. She helped me get over my bad attitude by reflecting the joy I had in me. Thanks, Friend!
But He [Jesus] took her by the hand and said, My child, get up! Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Luke 8:54-55. Read the amazing story.
Jesus, thank You for rescuing us - even from death - and giving us a helping hand up from our own defeated attitudes.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
Blessings,
Sara
