Helping Strangers
Up To Know Good on Monday

church parking lot

As we were leaving church one Sunday, a woman fell down in the parking lot. From every direction people began to hurry towards her. She stayed on the ground for a moment, and by the time she stood up a small crowd around had gathered. Everyone waited a to be sure she wasn’t seriously hurt. A little bruised, and I would guess a bit embarrassed, this well-dressed woman said she would be okay as she headed towards her car.

Do Good - Ask God to show you opportunities to help someone today. It may be something as simple as paying for a stranger’s lunch or leaving the parking space closest to the door for the car behind you.

It was a bit awkward to help this person. After all, what if she hadn’t been hurt? What if she somehow meant to fall? All sorts of ridiculous excuses can go through our minds when we contemplate getting involved. We can’t listen to them; we need to listen to our hearts. It may be awkward, but we will feel peace when we pay attention to our spirits.

“’Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?’ The expert in the law replied, ‘The one who had mercy on him.’ Jesus told him, ‘Go and do likewise.’” Luke 10:36- 37. Read the famous story of The Good Samaritan.

Jesus, give us courage to get past our selfishness so we can see and help others.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
