Helping Strangers - Up To Know Good on Tuesday

Helping Strangers
Up To Know Good on Tuesday

August 08, 2006

My friend Liz was at the pharmacy standing in line to get her prescription. She was looking around as she stood there and noticed an older gentleman standing behind her. Suddenly he dropped something. Without thinking much of it, Liz bent over and picked it up for him. As she handed him the item, he smiled at her with gratitude. “Thank you so much,” he said with great feeling. My friend was touched that such a simple act could mean such a great deal.

Do Good - When you give someone a helping hand today, also take time to look into their eyes and smile. Make a connection with the other person’s heart as you assist them with a simple task like picking something up or holding a door.

As Liz relayed this story to me, I could tell that she was still touched by the experience. It was no big deal for her to reach down to the floor, but it obviously meant a lot to this gentleman. What a rich encounter she had because she noticed his gratitude.

“Ears that hear and eyes that see=97the Lord has made them both.” Proverbs 20:12.

God, thanks for my ears and eyes. Help me to use them to connect with and bless others today.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
