Helping Strangers
Up To Know Good on Thursday

Hitchhiker

I got a ride from Ted, a college classmate, back to my home town for Thanksgiving. We were only about thirty-five miles from home when one of the tires blew out. It was nighttime, and we were in the midst of blizzard. Quickly we removed our entire luggage from the back, got out the spare, and started changing the tire. Suddenly the car jack froze. Seeing fewer and fewer cars going by, Ted and I grabbed the essentials and started thumbing for a ride. Thankfully someone with a large Buick stopped and drove us to town.

Do Good - If you need help today, reach out and ask for it. (I’m not suggesting you hitch-hike!) Simply be willing to be on the side of receiving assistance if you need it.

That was my one and only hitch-hiking experience, and the lesson was humbling. Honestly, I would always rather be the helper, but that night I was the needy stranger! I felt completely relieved to be rescued from the bitter cold, and within a couple of hours I was safely in my parents’ warm, familiar house.

“The woman came and knelt before him. ‘Lord, help me!’ she said.” Matthew 15:25. Read this woman's conversation with Jesus.

God, when I need help, please give me the wisdom and humility to ask for it.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

Sara

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!

Blessings,
Sara
