Up To Know Good on Friday
August 11, 2006
I had known Mark less than a week. I was working with him on a project, and on this particular day things had not gone well. He was stressed and concerned about meeting a deadline that was only twenty-four hours away. After helping him with his work as much as I could, I decided to ask, Mark, may I pray for you? He said he believed deeply in the power of prayer, and I took another step of faith. Do you want me to pray with you before I leave? He was surprised but grateful. I told him I was a Christian and that I pray to Jesus. He nodded his consent, and we bowed our heads.
Do Good - Ask God for an opportunity to pray with someone today. Don't worry about the words you will say. Focus on God as you request help for the other person.
I could hear Marks quiet sobs as I prayed aloud, and my tears also began to fall. I knew that his faith was not the same as mine, but I felt so privileged to bring Jesus into that office to comfort and bless him. As I left, we shared a smile and a hug, and I knew that peace had replaced his stress.
You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know. John 4:22. Read the story in of the woman at the well.
God, thanks that You know us, You fill us, and You love us. Let Your love flow through us onto strangers today!
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
