Up To Know Good on Friday
August 18, 2006
Several years ago, I saw a video of Derek Redmond's 1992 Olympic race. This British athlete was determined and favored to win a medal in the 400-Meter event. Unfortunately, shortly after he started running, Derek fell to the ground in excruciating pain due to a ruptured hamstring. Immediately, his coach and father, Jim, flew down the stadium steps to his son. Jim helped Derek up and put his arm around him. In obvious pain, Derek finished that race with the love and support of his father.
Do Good - Close your eyes and imagine God running towards you. Visualize Him helping you up and then supporting and loving you in all aspects of your life today and throughout the weekend.
With tears in my eyes, I saw the video of Jim and Derek finishing that race. I couldnt help but sense that God wasnt abandoning me in my current circumstances, either. What an amazing feeling to have God - Creator of the universe - running to be with me.
But while he [the son] was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him. Luke 15:20. Click to read the story of the Prodigal Son.
Jesus thanks for telling us the story of the Dad running towards his lost son. God, thank You for running towards us with open arms. We love you!
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
