Positive Point of View
Up To Know Good on Monday
September 18, 2006
Last August my husband and I rode the Cog Railway up to Pikes Peak in Colorado. Though it was summer, the weather at over 14,000 feet was wintry. When we reached the summit, it was snowing so badly that they had closed the road to motorists. The crowd of people stuck at the top and the thin atmosphere made many people anxious and upset. They rudely shoved their way into the small buildings to find food and facilities. For most of the stopover, we decided to wait on the train. Outside, I noticed two little girls pelting their dad with snowballs; all three were giggling and having a great time.
Do Good - If you encounter a stressful situation today, think about how you will treat people. Instead of being rude and pushy, choose to be kind and even playful.
When we start to feel anxious, are we more likely to throw insults or snowballs? I could look out one window of the train and see the masses of irritable people trying to get into the small gift shop. Out the window on the other side was the family who, instead of avoiding the snow, decided to play with it. Obviously, they were having a lot more fun!
A miserable heart means a miserable life; a cheerful heart fills the day with song. Proverbs 15:15. Click here to read the wisdom in Proverbs 15.
Jesus, show me ways to be more playful. I choose to believe that with Your help I could even enjoy the next storm I encounter.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
