Up To Know Good on Thursday
September 28, 2006
I desperately scanned the want ads in the newspaper. I was single and trying to start my own business, but the money was coming in slowly. I was na=EFve and unprepared for the expenses I faced, and so I turned anxiously to the paper. There had to be something I could do, but what? Clean houses or cashier at the grocery store? These were good jobs with flexibility, but what about the time away from my own business? What would be the most profitable? I started to wonder and worry about the best course of action.
Do Good - Are you trying to take matters in your life into your own hands? Step back and talk with a friend today about your worries. Then pray and entrust yourself and your situation to God. Ask God to show you the next step to take.
As I prayed about my situation, I again felt reassurance that I was doing the right thing by working for myself. I also saw that the next step was accepting a part-time position to supplement my income. To my surprise, at my new job I met someone who helped me grow my company. With her help, two months later I was working for myself full-time. In the meantime, I had made a great friend and ally for my business.
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Luke 12:25-26. Read the story about the rich man.
God, forgive me for trying to figure things out. I trust that if I take the step Youve put in front of me that You will take care of my needs.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
