The Sweetness of Surrender
Up To Know Good on Monday
October 02, 2006
As I threw my legs out over the edge of the small plane and looked at the ground two miles below, I started to wonder if skydiving was really such a great idea. I had a professional jumper, Jody, strapped to my back. I had never skydived before and was required to do a tandem jump with him. Still, even with Jody there, I started to feel nervous about leaving the plane. A moment later when he gave the signal, I arched my back and fell forward into the freefall. In the 120 mile per hour breeze, I was completely out of control. My facial muscles flapped wildly, and it was difficult even to smile.
Do Good - You may not need to jump out of a plane, but what courageous act of surrender is God asking you to do today? What risks are you facing?
Less than ten minutes later, we were safely on the ground. While I had been trying to smile, Jody grabbed the ripcord and opened up our parachute. Though I felt scared and sick during most of the experience, with his expertise we had a successful jump. Thankfully, for every jump God asks us to take, He also is there with expertise and a parachute. Even when we may feel completely out of control, He is helping and guiding us to our next step.
Throwing his cloak aside, he [the blind man] jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. Mark 10:50. Read about the miracle this man experienced.
Jesus, in the moments when I sense you asking me to jump, I pray that You would give me the courage and faith to surrender to You.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
Blessings,
Sara
