The Sweetness of Surrender
Up To Know Good on Tuesday
October 03, 2006
Lying in bed one night, I was praying about the chronic pain in my neck. For over two years, I had been suffering with terrible headaches. Although medication and exercise helped me to function everyday, I still wanted to live pain-free. As I laid there, I realized that the stiffness in my neck resulted in a proud, unnatural posture. Suddenly aware that I was holding my head up, even as I was lying down, I relaxed back into my pillow and mattress. I immediately felt a sense of relief.
Do Good - As you sit or lie down, consciously relax your entire body. Enjoy the sweet feeling of being supported by your chair, couch or bed and think of how God is holding your whole life just as comfortably.
On a deeper level, as I suffered from headaches during that time in my life, I was trying to hold myself up on the inside. As I let myself relax physically, I saw how I could also let go emotionally and trust God to carry me through the difficult circumstances I was experiencing. A few months after that moment of surrender, the doctors gave me an all clear on my medical condition. I no longer needed medication, and I had a new sense of healing and energy inside and out.
But they would not listen and were as stiff-necked as their fathers, who did not trust in the Lord their God. 2 Kings 17:14. Read more about being stiff-necked and stubborn.
God, thanks for holding us up in all our life circumstances; we relax into Your love and healing today.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
