Deer in the woods

As I sat in my home office anxious to finish my work and leave for the day, some movement outside my window caught my eye. I looked up and a beautiful deer was grazing in my yard just a few feet from the window. Suddenly another wild creature appeared, and then two more. I stopped my typing and stood up to see the four gorgeous deer eating the long grass in the forest that surrounds my yard. Breathless for a moment, I smiled when one looked up from the ground directly towards my window. Still chewing, he seemed to make eye contact with me for a moment. Seconds later, he turned away and the small group continued up the mountain out of my view.

Do Good - Take a few minutes to look or go outside. Notice the nature around you - clouds, sun, rain, plants, animals, etc. and let the Creator speak to your spirit through the creation. Enjoy a few minutes of simply being.

As I watched these four deer eating, I was struck by a sense of peace and completeness. Almost with a tangible presence of faith, I saw them stroll through the forest, getting nourishment as needed along the way. In contrast to my workday, they were not striving to accomplish anything. Still, they had blessed me with their presence and their beauty by simply being themselves. After they left, I sat back at my computer and said a simple prayer of surrender, “God, please help me show You to others by simply being myself.”

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.” Psalm 37:3. Click here to read more.

God, I surrender my work and agenda to You. Please help me show You to others by simply being myself.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
