Up To Know Good on Thursday

Mom hugging daughter

I was six years old, and my conscience was keeping me awake. As I walked into the living room, my mom stopped folding the laundry and asked if I needed something. “Remember when we went on a trip with Grandma and Beth [my younger sister] started crying really loud in the backseat?” Mom nodded for me to continue. “I told you she caught her finger in a zipper. The truth is - I bit her. She was bothering me.” My mom looked at me for a moment and said, “You know that was wrong.” “I know, and I’m sorry, Mom.” By now, I was crying. Mom assured me everything was okay and sent me back to bed.

Do Good - Is there an old offense you have committed that is bothering your conscience? Make it right by telling God and asking for forgiveness.

The Bible doesn’t actually say, “confession is good for the soul.” What is says is that when we admit our wrongdoing to God, we can be restored to joy and a right relationship with Him. My young conscience was keeping me awake for good reason - I had lied to my mom! As soon as I blurted out what was wrong, I was able to reconnect with her. Confessing also relieved my guilt, gave me peace, and allowed me to fall asleep easily. Let’s choose honesty today with ourselves, others, and especially with God.

“For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:3, 10. Click here to read and pray through this Psalm of confession.

God, thank You for the peace and joy I find in confessing to You.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

Sara

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!

Blessings,
Sara
