Arthur was diagnosed with lung cancer and given less than a year to live. Almost immediately, he and his wife Betty decided to return from California to the Midwest to be near loved ones. Arthur’s family was shocked at his decision. He had left nearly twenty years ago and was rarely in contact, even during holidays and special family events. Though they were surprised, they held a large gathering to celebrate his return. With open arms, they welcomed Arthur and Betty home at a huge party.

Do Good - Throw a party (simple or elaborate) for a loved one. Don’t wait for a special occasion; simply being together is reason enough to celebrate.

The following months were trying for Arthur, Betty and the family. Through painful treatments, his cancer worsened. Even so, Arthur kept his sense of humor, and at the many family get-togethers, he was often the center of fun. When Arthur passed away only nine months later, his family didn’t speak about his twenty years away. Instead, they retold his jokes and remembered the love they had been able to share since his return home. In the same way, God does not casually welcome us home. He runs to us with open arms and plans a party to celebrate our return. Let’s not wait for a fatal diagnosis or tragic circumstances to move us. Let’s choose to go to the party today!

“Let’s have a feast and celebrate.” Luke 15:23b. Read the famous story of the lost son.

God, I am so grateful that You celebrate us being together.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

Sara

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!

Blessings,
Sara
