Shadows - Up To Know Good on Monday

Up To Know Good on Monday

October 30, 2006

shady waterfall and woods

It was a beautiful autumn day, and Myron and I decided to take a hike in the woods near our home. When we started, the morning was crisp and cool, and we dressed warmly. I wore a thick fleece coat that soon became too heavy. After a couple of hours, we arrived at a waterfall. By then the sun was shining brightly, and we were starting to sweat from the effort of our hike. I sat down in the cool shade of a tree and enjoyed the beauty of the trees and water.

Do Good - Take a short break and breathe deeply as you read this email. Though you may be inside, let the Spirit refresh you for the day and tasks that lie ahead of you.

As we made our way back to our car, the old, tall pines and aspens shaded most of the path. We were thankful for the many shadows to cool us. At times, moments in shadows offer relief from the intensity of life. God longs to give us respite from the heat of our circumstances. Let’s be aware of His shade and enjoy His compassion as we begin a new week.

“Then the Lord God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.” Jonah 4:6. Read more of Jonah's story.

God, we are very happy about the shade You give us and the refreshment we can receive every moment from Your Spirit.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
