Up To Know Good on Wednesday

glass of soda

Grace and her mom Karen quietly let themselves into my house as I finished a piano lesson. I didn’t even look up because Grace’s lesson was next, and it was typical for them to arrive early. A few minutes later, they came into the studio room with a tall glass of diet soda, complete with ice, a slice of lemon, and a straw. A few weeks earlier I had told Karen how much I loved the small luxuries of ice, lemon and a straw with a soda. I was surprised and touched by their thoughtful gesture, and they beamed as they set it up for me near the piano.

Do Good - Listen to those around you and make a private note of what they enjoy. If you already know about someone else’s small luxuries, indulge one of them today.

Karen also knew that I had been feeling somewhat down for a few weeks. Her gesture of kindness meant a great deal, and more than anything, I felt listened to and loved. It is so easy to get caught up in our own day-to-day routines and neglect the needs of others. Let’s open our hearts, ears, and eyes today to someone who may need something as simple as a refreshing drink to lift their spirits.

“I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,” Matthew 25:35. Read the simple list Jesus gives us to bless others.

God, thank You that we can show deep kindness when we simply listen to those around us.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
