Great Expectations
Up To Know Good on Monday

cleaning house

Recently Myron and I were at our old house taking care of loose ends. Myron worked on a few superficial home repairs as I did some cleaning. We arrived early in the morning and planned to work until we needed to leave for another commitment around 2:00. By 1:45 we were both working intensely to finish, but shortly after 2:00 we realized we needed more time. As we drove away from the house, I noticed that I felt exhausted and irritated.

Do Good - Consider the tasks ahead of you today and what you will do if you are unable to complete them all.

Though I had done as much as I could, I was still frustrated. Suddenly I realized why - Myron and I hadn’t decided what to do if we ran out of time. I had assumed we’d complete everything, and I had to deal with my unmet expectations. As we drove, we talked about when we could finish, and I started to feel calmer. This time of year it’s easy for all of us to run out of time. When we start to get frustrated, let’s simply step back and adjust our attitude and expectations of ourselves and others.

“A heart at peace gives life to the body,” Proverbs 14:30. Click here to read more from this chapter of Proverbs.

God, give me wisdom to step back and assess my expectations when I get frustrated. Help me enjoy Your peace today.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

Sara

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!

Blessings,
Sara
