Great Expectations
Up To Know Good on Tuesday
December 12, 2006
Could you maybe send me my birthday present a few days early? my five-year old friend Kathy asked recently. She found out that our baby is due shortly after her birthday next year. Anticipating that I will be busy once the baby arrives (she just acquired a baby brother, so she understands), she made her request clear and early. In her question I heard her say, I understand youll be busy, so please plan ahead and dont forget about me.
Do Good - Make a wish list of gifts you would like to receive. Tell God whats on it, and give it to at least one person you love and trust.
Kathy made a big impression on me. Not only did she have the courage to admit she needed something from us, she said unequivocally what that is - a birthday present! Its amazing to me how easy it is to be polite as adults and later be hurt that we didnt get what we wanted. Lets start telling our loved ones what we need and expect. Doing so doesnt guarantee their response, but it is a great place to start.
With thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6b. Click here to read this powerful passage of Scripture.
God, give me the honesty and courage to tell you what I need and expect!
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
Blessings,
Sara
