Seeing Christ at Christmas
Up To Know Good on Monday
December 18, 2006
My father-in-law made a special request last year. For months before Christmas, he repeatedly asked for a homemade cassette tape of Myron and me singing hymns. We were reluctant at first - maybe because we were a bit self-conscious, but also because it didnt seem like a very elegant gift.
Do Good - Consider how you can give the gift of Jesus this Christmas. Give others a book, an ornament, an email, a letter or a song describing the real meaning of Christmas.
After giving it more thought, (and a few more requests from Dad), we decided to make the tape. After opening the package and smiling, Dad tearfully listened to us sing the old familiar tunes. As he hummed along with What A Friend We Have in Jesus, I also started to cry. It had only cost us a few hours of our time, but that tape was the most valuable gift we gave. Lets be generous with gifts of faith, time, and ourselves this season.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, - Isaiah 9:6a. Click here to read more of Isaiahs prophetic words.
Jesus, help my materialistic mind understand how You are enough. Show me the gifts that You want me to give to others on Christmas and every day.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
Blessings,
Sara
