Parable of the Rubber Duck
Up To Know Good
September 04, 2007

Kira has the cutest rubber duck bathtub. It's adorable when it's inflated, but between bath times, Ducky tends to lose a bit of its air.
One morning I was getting Ducky ready for bath time. As I stood in the bathroom exhaling into the bottom of the duck, I watched my progress in the mirror. Even though I was exerting a lot of effort, I still held a limp, plastic suffocation hazard, not a usable infant bathtub.
Then - suddenly it happened. The duck's head perked up, and the sides of the little tub began to take shape. A couple of final breaths, and Ducky was ready for bath time!
In this very simple experience I was reminded of how important it is to be patient. Our efforts that sometimes feel fruitless and unproductive are often the many breaths that are filling our duckies.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9. (Click here to read more.)
Today, let's resolve to not give up on doing what God has inspired within us! We may just be a breath away from seeing our dreams take shape and become something useful for others.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
Blessings,
Sara
