Glimpses of God - Up To Know Good

Glimpses of God
Up To Know Good

September 14, 2007

sun shining through clouds

About a month after my first huband, Josh, passed away, I opened the cabinet where he hid my cards and gifts. I was curious to see what, if anything, was in there.

I found a bag of greeting cards - two anniversary cards and several cards about love. I opened the first one and began to read:

"I talked with God today
For you were on my mind,
And asked my loving Father
To be especially kind:
Support you with His strength,
And tenderly to lead
Enfold you in His love,
And meet your every need."
(Unknown)

I closed my eyes and pictured Josh having this conversation face-to-face with God in heaven. Tears filled my eyes as I imagined them sitting together. I re-read the verse and realized God was enfolding me in His love and meeting my needs in that very moment.

"I will not leave you orphaned. I'm coming back." John 14:18. Click here to read Jesus' encouraging conversation with His friends. Though Josh was gone, as Jesus promised, He was right there with me.

Do Good - Send an encouraging card or email to a friend today.

I said the other day that I have an emotional Ph.D. in Grief. I've learned that the gift in the sadness is the very personal, real encounters we have with God. Glimpses of God are everywhere. I pray that we will see them in both our very sad and happy times.
