New Year, New Aspirations
Up To Know Good on Tuesday
January 02, 2007
Over a year ago I began telling people about Up To Know Good. I then had the task of actually sitting down to write it into reality. One day I was at Starbucks, and I read my coffee cup. It simply said, A writer writes everyday. That phrase summed up a missing ingredient in my plan - a clear, short-term goal. With new resolve and the help of an accountability partner, I committed to writing each weekday morning. Within a month, I had gone from talking about writing, to becoming a writer.
Do Good - Look at your year-long goals from yesterday (or write them out today!) Then, break down your 2007 goals into smaller steps. What will it take to get from where you are to where you want to be? Put your larger aspirations into short-term goals.
Always make a promise for a specific length of time, says William E. Edwards, author of 10 Days to a Great New Life. Lets make a promise to ourselves to begin a new behavior or stop an old one that will help us to achieve our aspirations. When I made a promise to write a little each day for a month, I found confidence and a momentum to keep moving forward the next month. As we set short-term goals and keep specific promises to ourselves, we will be that much closer to our vision for January 2008!

Lord, give me wisdom to create and integrity to follow-through on realistic short-term goals.
Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.
I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
