God Said Hurry - Up To Know Good on Thursday

God Said Hurry
Up To Know Good on Thursday

January 11, 2007

Thousands of years ago, God told the king of Egypt, Neco, to hurry into battle. When King Josiah, the leader of Judah, heard Neco was on the warpath, he went out to fight him. Neco bluntly told Josiah, “God told me to hurry. My fight is not with you, so get out of my way. If you don’t, I cannot guarantee your safety.” Foolishly, King Josiah did not listen to the words of God from the Egyptian king and stayed in the fight.

Do Good - Are you hurrying into battle in some area of your life? Pause today and consider - are you being led by God or your own ego?

Josiah was badly injured in the fighting and soon died. Sometimes, God may ask us to hurry into danger. If so, we need to be ready to go like King Neco. At other times, however, we may rush into a battle that was never ours to fight. In those situations, the Spirit will give us warning as He did to Josiah to “stand down.” We then need to be humble enough to listen and hurry back out of the battle.

“But Neco sent messengers to him, saying, ‘What quarrel is there between you and me, O king of Judah? It is not you I am attacking at this time, but the house with which I am at war. God has told me to hurry; so stop opposing God, who is with me, or he will destroy you.’" 2 Chronicles 35:21. Click here to read this short story.

God, give me wisdom to know when you are calling me into battle and humility to admit when I simply want to exert my own ego and agenda.

Know Good. Do Good. Feel Good.

I pray that you have a great day as you experience and express God's love in fresh, real ways!
